Most of us have gotten jobs the old fashioned way – walking into the place of business and asking to fill out an application. No longer the norm with the current advent of online applications, McDonald’s is currently taking it to a new social media level. The chain has started to offer applications through Snapchat, aka “Snaplications” ; the social media platform that allows users to post pictures and videos in 10-second snippets. Beginning in Australia this past April, potential hires were able to make video submissions with a special filter that shows them wearing a McDonald’s uniform. The video audition was then submitted to the McDonald’s Snapchat account. Upon arrival, the video was reviewed and McDonald’s sent back a link to their application to be filled out.
