He is the first man from Louisiana to land the Majority Whip positive since Hale Boggs, the Democrat. He also recently became the dean of the Louisiana Congressional delegation when Senator David Vitter retired. He is a Republican and endorsed President candidate Donald Trump during the election and continues to back him and his stances on national security. He was supportive of President Trump’s executive order to temporarily ban entry to the U.S. to citizens from terrorist leading countries. He is married to Jennifer Scalise, formerly Letulle and the two have two children together.
